Change

Some years ago, I worked with a woman who managed communications from my office. She never seemed to get too crazed in a crisis which was good because we had a few hit us. None of them were huge but they could, and often did, cause worry and fretting. Her take? Manage this as best you can, be honest and clear in your communication, and remember that in about six weeks something else will come along to distract all the dust-flingers who are calling for your head.

Now that advice is not always true if the dust-flinging is about a personality rather than the event. But even personalities fade while events almost always give way to something more current.

My devotion today exhorted me to focus not on the seen and temporal but on the unseen and eternal. Great advice in any situation.

  1. Nowadays it’s a lot less than six weeks.
