Improvement

“Raw photos kinda suck”. An ad for photo editing, a how-to improve your pictures. I admit that often my pictures do not truly capture the glory of any particular nature scene. My iPhone sunsets are either way more bright and orange-y and not enough pink, or the dark clouds overshadow the colors.

But I’m also struck by the implication of the ad that even if I do manage to capture the perfect picture – and I do have a few that truly capture what I saw – somehow it is not enough. That I can make this a stunning scene, I can improve the richness.

That I can improve on what God showed me. Isn’t that so often the source of discontentment? That I can do better than God? That what I’ve been given is not enough?

  1. “Improve on what God showed me?” I think not.
