I made the sand a boundary for the sea, an everlasting barrier it cannot cross. The waves may roll, but they cannot prevail; they may roar, but they cannot cross it. – Jeremiah 5:22
They may even dampen the edges of the barrier and threaten to cross, threaten to prevail. In those moments, Whom do we trust?
Whenever we spend time by the ocean, I am reminded of just how very loud the surf is – it truly roars and much more so when there is a storm. The waves try to sneak over the sand but always retreat.
The roar of life is often deafening and especially in the midst of a life-storm. Yet the boundaries God has placed around my life by His great grace keep me from harm and remind me that He is in control. It is when I try to be in control that I feel most threatened by the roar of life and the relentless waves.
Lord, lead me to the Rock that is higher than I (Psalm 61:2b).
