Opportunities

These wonderfully yellow flowers have now faded, lost their petals, and all that remains of them are dry stalks with seed heads. This is a different way of enjoying them. As I look out the window, they are now full of small gray and brown and black finches retrieving and eating the seeds. The finches are small enough that the dry stalks don’t even bend as the finches perch and harvest.

Occasionally, a big blue jay will come along looking to capitalize on cheap and easy food. But not only is the blue jay too heavy to perch on the dry stalks, their bills are WAY too large to retrieve the tiny seeds. All the blue jays can do is be jealous and loud.

Not every opportunity is ours. God matches the situation and the timing specifically to how He has made each one of us.
