Holy Saturday

Last week was Holy Week culminating in Easter Sunday. There’s Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday. In between Good Friday and Easter Sunday is Saturday. It is sometimes called Holy Saturday or Silent Saturday.

Whatever you call it, it is Liminal Time, in-between time, a time of silence and waiting. The thing is, sometimes you know you are waiting and what you’re waiting for. But sometimes, as in the case of Holy Saturday, you not only don’t know what you’re waiting for but you don’t even know you’re waiting. For Jesus’ disciples and followers, they didn’t know they were waiting. They thought it truly was finished.

But it was just liminal time. It is just liminal time. Still.
