Body Armor

Many folks think body armor is a fairly new-ish innovation, and in its present form it is, mostly because it isn’t associated with or doesn’t even resemble, the armor worn before cannons and guns. Body armor protects the torso and specifically the delicate internal organs. In general, body armor isn’t worn for everyday activities; rather it is worn when danger is anticipated or even certain.

In Ephesians, Paul tells us to put on the armor of God including the breastplate, or body armor, of righteousness. Righteousness refers to purity of character, spiritual oneness with God. This is a beautiful illustration of how something impenetrable protects our most delicate internal parts. The righteousness of Jesus Christ protects our hearts. It is an impenetrable barrier against the battles and dangers of living under evil attacks.

When we “put on” the righteousness of Jesus, we protect our spiritual hearts. We put on righteousness by how we live everyday, it is a choice for the day and for the moment.

We choose Jesus.
