‘Tis the season. Anticipation is the name of the game. The lights, the presents, the parties, the food, Santa, carols, friends and family, travel – everything is at a high pitch.
Even in our churches, there are Christmas programs of all sorts including children’s performances, lighting of candles, singing of carols, special and specific Scripture.
But what are we really anticipating? Christ’s birth? Um, ok but that happened quite awhile ago. The start of a new church calendar. Well that’s a bit boring in some ways. Opening presents? Being with family and friends? Massive quantities of delicious high-caloric content food? Well, yeah. But.
Stop and ponder for a moment. What ARE you anticipating? What does this season of Advent and Christmas mean to you?
Perhaps, just perhaps…a heart reset?
