I’ve never really understood beach fishing. It seems to be rather ill-informed, like, exactly what kind of fish is going to be out there? I know you can walk upright out quite a ways. And I’ve seen how far you cast. I’ve never seen anyone actually catch anything.
All form and no substance?
Yet, consistently when we are at the beach I see people fishing from the beach, so I have to consider there might be some harvest going on. Minimally, it’s a great way to look busy without actually being busy.
Similarly, I sometimes wonder about the approach to “fishing for men” which gets used? Is there any harvest? And exactly what kind of harvest is it?
I guess just because I don’t understand doesn’t mean what is happening is fruitless. What I do know is that I need to examine my fishing to see if I’m actually catching anything or if I’m just looking good while killing time.
