Season

Some days are really hard right now and the Christmas “season” never really feels like I think it should. Yet when I stop – just stop – that ambivalence, that hardship, that emotional burden, is more normal perhaps than the artificial striving for happiness that consumes today.

The Christmas story of the birth of Christ contains so much that, when unpacked, is not joy and peace and presents and feasts.

The glad tidings were about the birth of the Savior, Emmanuel, God with us. But those glad tidings span until the Resurrection for THAT is the Good News.

The Holy Birth is necessary but not complete without the Resurrection.
