More of the Same

I’ve been reading “Presidents of War” by Matthew Beschloss. It’s fairly interesting but each account of behaviors and actions is relatively formulaic. President X, along with Senators/Representatives W, T, and F manipulated and/or misinformed virtually everyone else about the needs and reasons and insults that required going to war while the Herald/Beacon/Times in <fill in the name of a city> lambasts the proponents/naysayers as being weak, crazy, delusional, arrogant, etc.

I’d like to believe that there has been growth and positive change, yet at least on the surface, “the more things change the more they stay the same” (Jean Baptiste Alphonse Karr).

What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.” – Ecclesiastes 1:9

So what’s a body to do? Jesus was pretty clear here: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matthew 22:37-38).

Pondering what those two directives mean and how to live as if. That approach is also not new under the sun, just less lauded or noted and more difficult.
