The sea is so great and my boat is so small. – Breton Prayer, Winfred Ernest Garrison

Our prayer days divide the “olders” from the “youngers” so that everybody gets some focus.  Having a blended family of seven and then having five of the seven married (and ten grandchildren) means that focused time with any of them comes rarely.

We spent some special time with some of our “olders” this week. It was fun to see them interacting and to realize what a blessing they are to each other and to their children.

This has also been a time when we were reminded of what very little power we have. The comforting part of that is we don’t have to rely on that very little personal power. We can draw on and seek the power of our Father so that no matter how small our boat or how big the sea, we are in the Father’s love and protection. Even when we stray and wander.  And when we come home, the rejoicing is epic.
