Hills

I lift up my eyes to the hills —
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth. – Psalm 121:1-2

We just returned from two weeks in Peru with some dear friends who live there. In the mornings, I got to sit outside and look towards the hills surrounding the town where they live. Depending on lots of different influences, the same view had different clarity.

It was interesting to see each day how the view changed.  What was there didn’t change – the hills didn’t move. I KNEW the hills were there even when mist or clouds or other atmospheric influences obscured visibility.

As I lifted my eyes up to the hills, I was reminded that my ability to “see” God may be influenced and obscured, but He is still there just like the hills around our friends’ house. He is still where my help comes from; He is still the Maker of heaven and earth. He does not change. All His promises hold.

  1. Fantastic perspective!! Thanks. When I was reading Sabbath Blessing Monday, I was picturing you reading the same passages in Peru. Blessings
