This fall we spent a delightful, extended period in Jaco, Costa Rica. While there, we attended a small English-speaking church; the congregation was mostly ex-pats. As we got to know some of them, we would usually ask “what made you choose to move to Costa Rica.”
One of the most blunt responses was from S.C. who told us she moved to Costa Rica to die. Wow. She was diagnosed with cancer and didn’t expect to live. Fifteen years later, she is cancer-free and enjoying pura vida.
The most interesting and ponder-worthy thing she said, however, was “God always heals. Sometimes He takes us home to do the healing.”
I’ve never thought of death that way before. It seems an accurate and oddly comforting description.

Jesus can’t lie. His promises are yay and amen! He will heal us here or in Heaven, but He is faithful to His word! God bless you! ❤
