Three

We just returned from time in Costa Rica and one of the things we learned from our friend Roberto, is that every town there has three things: a church, a school, and a soccer field. Now we did not actually verify that ourselves but Roberto was accurate on pretty much everything else he told us, so we are going to go with this as fact.

As I thought about this today, that seems to be a pretty good foundation for community. A place to worship and seek God, a place to learn and acquire the tools for work, and a place to play, providing the foundation for life balance and community if one chooses to take advantage of what is provided.

When you look at your area of residence, can you identify the community places and is there a balance of opportunity? More importantly, are you engaging in and being part of that community? If not, why?

Communities are places to belong, and we are all wired to desire belonging. Maybe creating and/or finding spaces that host community is your next step.
