This time of year has an anticipation element for many, especially high school seniors and college graduates-to-be. One of the questions consistently asked is “Is that enough?”
Graduates are considering the next phases of their lives whether college, first job, travel, or something else. Quantity is a consistent consideration.
Is that enough scholarship money to attend the college of my choice?
Is that enough salary to live in that city?
Is that enough in benefits to cover any health issues that may arise?
“Enough” can be tricky and “more” always seems within reach. We forget that quantity needs to be balanced with quality.
Attending a college that gives you a great scholarship but the remaining cost puts you deep into the student loan chasm, probably isn’t better than a lesser scholarship at a school which doesn’t cost as much but is academically sound.
A huge salary for a job that requires you to live in a city where housing will gobble up half of that huge salary may not be the best decision.
A huge salary for a miserable job raises a different kind of how much is enough scenario. You have to make a decision between “how much is enough money” vs “how much is enough bs”.
What price your soul?
Things to ponder.
